Paraiba Tourmaline

Paraiba Tourmaline is a remarkable stone and it is by far one of our favorites. The color ranges from a majestic blue-green, but it is the luminous glow that appears to light up the stone within that makes the Paraiba tourmaline unlike any other. This stone can be styled to romanticize any outfit, and it is by far in a league of its own with its array of beautiful characteristics.

How to Style Paraiba Tourmaline

The Paraiba Tourmaline is very rare. As one of the most valuable stones on the earth, these rare stones can really turn heads when styled with any outfit. Benari Jewelers takes pride in our Paraiba Tourmaline pieces, because the stones used are of only the finest qualities. The fascinating luminous gemstone when worn cannot be missed, especially on the red carpet. This includes looks from Julianne Moore in a Paraiba Tourmaline statement necklace weighing more than 34 carats to Salma Hayek in Paraiba Tourmaline earrings!

Our own look includes the Paraiba Tourmaline stone being romanticized with a wedding gown. The feminine fresh blue hues of the stones brings out the beauty in our Benari Bride. She has paired two beautiful Samuel Sylvio products. This includes a Paraiba Diamond ring paired with a 14.60 Carat Paraiba Tourmaline earring with accents of pink tourmaline and diamonds.

History of the Paraiba Tourmaline

The stone was discovered in the 1980s by Heitor Dimas Barbosa, a very motivated gem miner that knew that something special was hidden in the hills of the Brazilian state of Paraiba. The stone is categorized under the Tourmaline's family, which dates back to at least the 3rd Century B.C. The different stones under the Tourmaline family vary in their presence. The Paraiba specifically is recognized for its unmatched beauty, and is idolized as a very prestigious gemstone.

We Owe it all to Copper

Most tourmalines owe their coloring to iron, manganese, chrome and vanadium. However, the Paraiba Tourmaline properties consist mostly of copper, unlike any other tourmaline. The copper in high concentrations is the reason for the distinct array of fascinating hues of blue, turquoise and green. Another component of the Paraiba tourmaline is manganese, which consist of violet and red hues. However, when utilizing the burning affect these colors are eliminated from the stone leaving just the distinct blue hues from the copper to make up the Paraiba Tourmaline.

The truly fascinating blue hues of this Paraiba tourmaline is the reason it has captivated the gemstone world. Copper makes all the difference in this specific tourmaline for its remarkable assortment of colors from emerald green to sky blue.

A League of Its Own

Paraiba Tourmaline is one of the most valuable and sought after gemstone. The price of the Paraiba continue to climb, due to the small supply of the raw stones. The beautiful color and the luminosity within the gemstone makes it by far in a league of its own. The Paraiba Tourmaline is available in our Exton and Newtown Square locations, contact us today with any request!
